Recently I attend a conference in NZ and had the pleasure of listening to Pam Hook. Her Solo Taxonomy described level of increasing complexity in a student's understanding, through stages. It can become powerful mental model for students and could give them opportunities to think about their own learning outcomes. Current research has indicated the importance of "Learning to learn” This framework could help students see where they are, how to move to the next stage.
